.223/6x45/.243

Shoot and load for .223/.243. Have switch barrel model 16 but hate to change the bolt head/baffle.

Is 6 x 45 factory loaded ammo available? If so, that may be the 6x45 caliber works ok for medium sized deer as an in-between caliber .223/.243 without changing the bolt assembly. Can read ballistics charts, but anybody shooting these three for comparison? Never shoot live game over 250 yrds.

as far as I know no factory ammo , will it work for deer yes I would check with 5 spd on this I think he shoots this round

Have you looked at the 300 Blakout with the 110 gr Hornady round?

It's a bit slow and not my first choice.

The .243 is also not my first but will give trajectories closer to the .223 Rem.

perhaps go with an Axis for one and then you have two Switch barrels!

Why not just put together another complete bolt?

Had a 300 blkt barrel for the striker and rifle, too much reload work, want factory ammo. Axis...I will not be ugly to say what I think of that "rifle." It was given away.
A .243 will do anything the big bores will at 250 yards. And the 100+ grain 6mm bullets do fine in the 9 twist factory barrel, however, don't want to reload for this application.

How well does a complete bolt exchange work? That could be a good solution. Have read here for years not to use different bolts, never tried it. I can spin on the barrels in 20 minutes.

Exactly. He is already swapping barrels on the same action and changing out the bolt heads so why not just assemble another bolt to go with the second barrel. Saves time and alleviates the need to swap bolt heads.
