Savage 99

New to savageshooters and new to savage rifles, I aquired a savage 99 serial # 3154xx, date code G, and Utica NY barrel. Searching the Internet leads me to believe the date code G is 1957 but serial number is 1927. If I researched correctly Savage left Utica NY around 1946. I'm confused can someone help date my 99?

Pay no attention to the letter on that particular rifle, it's not a date code, that started in 1949. I have a 1926 99G with a serial # in the upper 200,000's IIRC (not near it now) so 1927 sounds pretty close if not spot on.
