Hi all - I'm new to the Savage platform. I don't own a Savage, yet. I'm reading the forum and net to see my best options before buying. I'm only an internet long-range competitive shooter...so I'll get more use out of a rifle that can be used both hunting and shooting. I'll most likely buy a complete rifle and then swap out the barrel and stock as I go. Eventually adding more calibers and buying from the forum's classifieds, building my own. I live in the Smoky Mountains --the furthest range here is 200 yards...but that doesn't mean I can't have fun building good shooters. My wife also shoots and we both reload.

Welcome.
I think we all enjoy tinkering with Savages around here.
In my opinion and truth be told, with many of the modern factory features like the accustock and different available accutriggers on the newer rifles,
a decent break in and some hand loads will have a full featured out of the box rig taking names and kickin brass in short order.
The factory also seems to have the bases pretty well covered on specialty rigs for different shooting disciplines as well.
Of course there are always the economical underestimated used gun shop racks and pawn shop finds that need love too and are a gas to tinker on.
Welcome aboard
