Loads for Savage 223 FTR

Just purchased a savage 223 FTR 1:7 twist and mostly shooting 100 yards bench rest , does anyone have any suggestions on loads ?? new to the reloading game

Varget and R15 are two good powders to try. 77 or 80 grain SMK's can do well but the Bergers really tighten things up. Russian or BR4's have also worked well.

ok will give a try, what grn in the Bergers have u had luck ?? what about the Hornety Bullets ??

I've been shooting 77SMK's Black Hills Reman into one hole groups at 100 yards. Have some bergers to try once I've got more brass to reload.

I don't know, I'll send them a note and see if they'll tell me. I've got a stock of RL-15 for when I start reloading them. The barrel is a savage F-Class takeoff that had less than 100 rounds through it when I bought it. This the a group I shot after zeroing the scope. One inch dot, shot five then decided to finish the rest of the magazine on it. Should have concentrated a bit more. :)

I'm running AR-Comp 24.3 grains behind Sierra 69 grain SMK. It's my egg shoot load and very accurate at 200 yards. OAL comes in a 2.290"

OP-What is your OAL without hitting the lands with 77 gr rounds? The reason I ask is that either I have a short chamber or I don't know what lands marks look like.

BTW- Is the Black Hills you are shooting in Federal cases? If so, measure a fired case. I would bet they are a lot shorter than 1.750"
