Hey guys, so ive rebarreled a some and changed the bolt head on some as well like 308 to 204 but ill be building a 6.5x 284 for a buddy and its will be off a 7mm mag donor 110e action. My only question is since the 6.5 uses a 308 bolt head (.470) and the 7mm is a .540 is there anything difference when replacing a bolt head on a long action for a shot action caliber? i know theres some 110 in 308 so i wouldnt think there is a difference but im not sure, as well as should i be able to just swap the bolt head out and re use the extractor and ejector components? ive never run into a issue changing calibers before but i am on alittle bit of a time crunch as this is a christmas gift for him from his wife so im reaching out to make sure im not missing anything.

so to sum it up heres my plan
removed and replace 7mm mag barrel with 6.5x284
remove 7mm (.540) bolt head and replace with .470 308 bolt head.
reuse the extract and ejector

anyone see any issues with this? its a old stagger feed model so ill find out if i need a new follower after i load some.

Should be able to get 284 head space gauges most any place. The bolt head is no worry. Get the long action .470 bolt head (.270,30-06) and you'll be golden and load them long it that action

Thank you!! can i reuse the extractor and ejector? most of the bolt heads i see online are stripped thats why i ask! ive head great things about them being in the 110 action and being able to load long so i hope for good results.
