The new model 11 scout caught my eye yesterday so I got on savages website and looked it up. It's a great looking rifle and it looks like just putting standard bases on it would put the scope back where I need it to work best for me, is that the case ? I also noticed that the twist rate was marked n/a, the standard for .308 savages has for the most part been 1:10, is this rifle different ? Those two questions are the only thing that kept me from getting it yesterday. Thanks guys

You could put standard bases on it but that would take away the iron sights. The rear peep sight mounts to where the rear scope base would go.

Not sure on the rifling question.

Barrel is 1:12 twist.

How well does the factory muzzle break do at taming the recoil of the 308 in this light rifle? I'm interested in this rifle also.

Well that twist rate kind of surprised me, but I don't load anything over 170gr and mostly run 135gr so it should be ok, according to my Shilen chart. The local price for this rifle is $630 but tomorrow is black Friday and they are dropping it $50 if you are there at 5:00am, it's a good thing i'm up and going before that. Thanks for the help guys and Jakemore71 that reference was just what I needed.

Just saw that Underdog, That type of brake on my other savage .308's in the past has removed about 30-40% I would guess. If you shoot a round with the brake and then shoot a round without it you can really tell the difference. That's from an open rest using my shoulder for the back rest. And yes it's loud to those around you.

What part of the country are you located? What store is carrying them? Thanks

I'm in in the corner of northeast Oregon, La Grande. The store bi-mart. It's a regional chain store.
