I was cruise'n thru my local Wal-Mart and checked out the cheap clamshell packed scopes. The clerk behind the counter asked if I was look'n for a scope cuz he had a deal on one. I walked over to him and he had a Nikon Buckmasters 3 x 9 x 40 matte in new condition but with no box or papers. He wanted $ 150.00 for it. I looked it over and it looked good, really good. I offered $100. He said OK. I can't believe I negotiated a price at Wal-Mart, successfully. Anyway, was it a steal or just a so-so deal? I plan to mount it up on a new 11FL in 308 I just got that presently has no glass.

You did good my friend. Hey, you cant see thru the box when youre shooting so it dont do you any good anyways.

New(with box and papers) they normally cost around $200-220, and are pretty decent scopes.

I have 2 Buckmaster's 4.5-14x40 and they work great. For $100 for a 3-9 you did alright. ;)

Ya done good.
Around here the changing of the seasons leads to some really good deals there. When the new stuff is coming in they blow out the old stuff. They just keep marking it down till it sells
Last year I watched the price keep dropping on a couple of Bushnell 3200 3-9x40s and a couple of Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40s. The price on the rifleman scopes never got to my trigger point before they sold but when the Elite 3200s hit $75 each I bought em both.
The funny part is, I only went to the store to do a little grocery shopping, :-X

You got a pretty good deal on the Buckmaster.
I can get them NIB for $167 so $100 without papers or a box is decent.

The $75 3200's that Big Honkin got were an absolute steal.
