Ok so I have a rifle I bought off a friend, believe it's a 111 in .300 wm. It is top bolt release, detachable staggered feed mag, and doesn't have the accuracy trigger. I recently shot my friends GAP rifle and even Helen keller could shoot sub moa at a thousand yards with this thing but he also spent ALOT on it. So I have a new criterion heavy barrel for my savage and would like to put it in a new stock or chasis. If I went with something like the choate tactical stock would I need new bottom metal for it to work? What are my options? If I spent more money for like a mcmillian a4 would I need bottom metal for that, since they say you must send in the dbm for fit. Or is a chasis system easier way to go

If you want a dbm, you'll have to get a stock inletted for it and you'll need to remove the box attached to the action. Both stagger feed and center feed long actions have to same screw spacing so either style stock will do but you might find more options if you search for a long action center feed stock.

If you want a blind magazine setup (no detachable mag) then you'll need to search for a long action stagger feed stock specifically.

Hope this helps.

It's detachable staggerfeed? So it has a button on the side of the stock to release the magazine right?

No it has a little release on the bottom on the front side of the magazine

Is the bottom metal that is on the rifle now specifically for that stock or can it be used for any stock

do yourself a favor and go with a chassis...i think XLR makes the element for the 111...$750 bucks...have the barrel thread 5/8s 24 for a muzzle break then work up a load and youll shoot right with your buddies GAP.

I'm pretty sure you have a centerfeed then. Which is good.... there are more options for aftermarket bottom metal, and the receiver is opened up more than a staggerfeed. And a centerfeed magazine also alows a longer cartridge length in it, which is important for a 300wm

This x100.

My 110 .338 in an XLR Evolution has outshot a few GAP rifles at 1500 yards. Pretty priceles to see that look on people's faces when a factory Savage shoots better than their full custom rigs.
