Hi All -

I wanted to share a build that I just completed, so here she is. This gun was built exclusively for long range varmint matches at my club, and I can not wait to get the scope in and see what she can do. I have been collecting parts since February, and just finished everything up this weekend.

She started as an Axis in 243 Win that I got on clearance for $179. Since then, she has had the following done to her:

1. Criterion 26" Stainless Match 1" bull barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor from NSS.
2. Precision barrel nut from NSS.
3. Boyds Pro Varmint stock with adjustable cheek riser. I had to open the barrel channel up quite a bit to fit the bull barrel (I did start with an Axis HB stock). I also added a significant amount of weight to the gun by drilling three holes in the buttstock and filling them with lead and epoxy, removing the swivel studs and filling in the inlet channel that Boyds stocks come with more lead and epoxy, and also it is now a single shot rifle so I filled up the entire magazine well with more lead and epoxy. Without optics, she weighs in at 12.1 pounds.
4. Bolt body fluting with color fill from SSS.
5. Single shot loading ramp from SSS.
6. Stainless trigger guard from Boyds, painted to match the bolt.
7. Rifle Basix Sav-1 trigger, tuned to 11 oz (as light as it will go without the bolt close and/or safety disengagement setting it off).
8. Bolt handle from Glades.
9. Pillar bedded.
10. Glass bedded the action from recoil lug to back action screw.
11. Painted the stock in a matte black since I did so much work to it removing wood and adding epoxy everywhere.

She will be getting a Vortex Viper HST 6-24X50 scope, mounted in Vortex precision matched rings, and an EGW 20 MOA base.

Nice work! It has a real "hot rod" look to it with the contrasting black and stainless with red highlights.

Thanks, guys.

With all the time and effort that went into working on the stock and bedding it, I wanted it to look as good as I could get it, hence the bolt fluting, bolt handle, and the red accents. This was my first build from the ground up that was more than just swapping a barrel, so it probably took me longer to do than most since I was triple checking all my work.

Hopefully she shoots as good as she looks when I get the scope in a few months and start load development.
