What bolt head do I need to get , to change a 30-06 axis bolt for a 223 rem. ? I see bolt heads listed for short action etc. Will the 110 bolt head work?

I've heard that there are 110 bolt heads for .223 Remington, but that they're very rare and rightly so. Even if you were to locate one, it would not work without some significant fitting. The Axis uses 10 bolt heads, which do exist in quantity with a .223 Remington face. Assuming you have a right hand gun, here's one from a forum sponsor (http://www.gunshack.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_31&product_id=130).

Use a standard M 10 223 bolt head and rotate the front baffle 180* to reduce the bolt draw. I cant remember if you can adjust the protrusion.

If I am reading correctly I need a model 10 223 bolt head for a short action? even tho it will be used on a 30-06 length bolt?

The Axis uses one size bolt and one size bolthead. To check tear your bolt down and measure the tail.

Here is something that may help you out. Compliments of Fred, Jim and others. It is not related to the Axis but has some pictures that will educate you on whats out there to help you move forward.

Will the axis bolt head work on a model 10? I am rebarreling a M 10 .223 to .308 and need the bigger bolt head. In theory could we swap bolt heads and make that work?

It would work but I am saving it to be able to switch back and forth. I do think you for the offer
