Perhaps it's just my CSOB/thrifty gene kickin' in but, $50.00 - 55.00 for a magazine for a $200.00-$300.00 gun just seems wrong.

In my mind, That's just way too much money for a stamped steel and plastic device with a capacity of just 3 rounds.

After a pretty thorough search, the best price I could find was $35.00 + shipping. Is there a source I missed?

I really wouldn't mind paying that price, for a quality, all metal, magazine, with a more reasonable capacity.

OK, Rant over. Comments???????

It used to be that buying the individual components from Savage was cheaper than buying the mags. I don't remember how much they cost when ordered a la cart, but it probably wasn't much better than $35. Of course shipping was still an added cost.

Another place to look is the classifieds here. New, new take-off, and used Axis type magazines come up for sale every so often, so as long as you're not looking for an unusual one like the magnum versions, there always seem to be a few for sale.

If I recall the pricing was

Floorplate- $3.00
Spring and Follower- $8.00
Magazine-$18.00

Plus shipping so yes right at around. $35.00

MidwayUSA just had Axis mags on clearance. I picked up a second mag for my 223/300BO Axis and paid $27...they had free shipping if you spent $150 as well.

What caliber you looking for?
And it is for an Axis, correct?

Just to close out this thread.
After a flock of e mails and a couple of PM's, some bridge building with some like minded board members. I will have sufficient magazines to experiment with, for my odd pistol and small rifle caliber Axis cased barrel set, in hand this week.

I love it when a plan comes together...

Thanks to all who participated.
