Hey there! I was in the market for a new bench rifle/prairie dogger recently, either a 22-250 or 220 swift. I was all set to buy a model 12 lrpv when i stumbled on this Swift on gunbroker...at half the money, i had to have it! I didnt even realize Savage quit chambering in the Swift until after i bought it. Anyway, its a bvss-s on a greyish thumbhole stock with a 26" fluted bb. It comes with a Redfield 6-18x but it looks a little old, ill probably put a vortex viper on it eventually. Im not sure what twist the barrel is so if anyone knows or has any other info, I'd appreciate it.

220 Swifts normally had a 1-12 twist, but some have had a 1-14 twist. The slower twist the faster the projectile, as less force is placed on rotation and more on forward thrust. But I think all modern 220 Swift rifles have the 1-12 twist rifling.

My Remington 700 .220 swift is 1/14. Most factory offerings are 1/14 twist. I am just guessing but would say savage is the same. Measure it by marking a cleaning rod then send it down the barrel with a clean dry patch until it makes one full rotation. Mark the rod when it starts spinning then when you get to one rotation. Measure the distance between your marks and you have a true rifle twist.

50-55 grain bullets on top of imr4064 is the dream load in the slower twist barrels. Mine likes to go as fast as I can push it. 3900 fps for hunting, 3650 for practice/competition with 52 g Sierra match kings.
