mount height on 93

got a savage 93 17hmr....looking at a mueller apv scope..or something probably with a 40mm objective...whats a good ring height?

I have a 93BTV(thumbhole stock) mounted a Mueller 8-32x44, used Burris signature high rings gives me approximately 1/4 inch clearance of barrel, with this stock the high rings give better cheek/eye placement in my opinion.

I have a 93 17 BTVLSS with Weaver med rings and a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 and it just clears the thicker part of the receiver end of the barrel by about 3/32". I bought a set of High and a set of Extra high Weaver Grand Slam rings for it. I will be trying them on it today because of the high comb on the thumbhole stock, I have a hard time getting a sight picture and I need the scope raised but I do not know how much. Dale
