Was checking these out at Acadamy for $499. Only Savage I have is the 308 Hog Hunter. Kind of wanted a 30-06 and wondered if these were a step above the Axis. Are they accurate is the question. It has a ten twist like my 308 and it only likes 178 to 180 grain bullets. Would be good if the 30-06 did too since I have several to reload.

I have had a model 11 trophy hunter in .308 for about three years. Through 700 hand loads it has averaged about 1.5 moa. I only shoot to about 350 yards. My barrel loves 168 bergers and is a 1/10 twist. 150 gn Hornady sst's are really good too. It is not my most accurate rifle but it is really light and what I always seem to grab now for deer hunting. Well worth the money IMHO.

I got the Trophy Hunter 111 (30-06) for $400 on sale at Dicks and am happy with it. It came with a Nikon BDC scope that works reall nice. The stock is not firm but it shoots good. I shoot 165 grain Federal Vital shock and am getting .75 moa. at 100 yds. I modified my stock to stiffen the forfend. For 2-3 hundred more you could get the Long range hunter with the accu-stock, you wont regret it, but the TH package is still a good deal (IMO).

OH yea, if you get the TH, change the scope rings out right away, they are crap.
