Alright guys something has been bothering me more the look at my stainless varmint action and my stainless CBI barrel. The CBI barrel is highly polished and the action is not as shiny. Are the Varmint actions bead blasted or just not polished?

If I have to get the barrel bead blasted how much would that cost? Can you go to a sandblasting shop to get it done?

Maybe try a vibrating sander to remove the shine.

I will not be putting a vibrating sander on my barrel. I'm pretty sure bead blasting is the only way to do it safely. I just don't know what grain to use to match the action.

If you try the vibrating sander, be VERY careful. And do not use a coarse grit. I've never used an orbital sander on a barrel but using one on sheet metal with the wrong grit will leave nasty little swirls.

I'd definately have it blasted by a professional. Or you could just take the action to a buffing wheel and polish it until it matches the barrel if contrast is your only concern.
