I am building a 20 Vartarg and 20 Practical on Target Actions. I will be using standard 0 MOA picatinny rails with Burris Signature Zee rings. Can someone tell me if I should buy medium or tall rings for a scope with a 50mm and 56mm Objective lens? I want the scope to be as close to the bull barrel as possible

Thanks,

Phil

I believe it will depend on what brand rail that you use. I have a Ken Farrel base 20 moa on mine with medium sig zee rings with a NF with the 56mm bell. I could get away with a lower base, like an egw, or possibly even lower with a weaver rail.
I am quite sure that you will NOT want the tall rings. Hopefully someone will confirm me.

There are a few things to consider. The barrel contour, height of the base, height of the rings, and outside diameter of the scope you are planning on using.

I did the same two builds this Spring. Used zero EGW rails and medium Zee rings. Plenty of clearance for either 50 or 56mm scope.

Thanks for your replies guys. I concur...I looked up the specs, did the math and found mediums will clear....

A little off topic but be careful with that 20 Practical, it will spoil you quick.

And the VarTarg will amaze you. Good luck with your builds.
