I know at least one member is active in the PRS...

Reading through the rules it seems that any action is legal, with classes broken down by caliber, with the exception of the "Production Division".

Do competitors use AR-style rifles during PRS matches?

Do any "top" shooters use semi-auto - AR-style - rifles for competition?

I'm not 100% sure if anyone uses ARs but I doubt it...most are shooting 6MM bolt guns built off custom actions...lonewolf will chime in soon and have more info to offer.

If you go read the precision rifle blog you will find the "what the pros use section". You will notice AR's are not mentioned anywhere.

However, they are having a semi-auto only match on the 2016 series this year.

The game is really tailored toward the bolt gun and unless using a very well built AR10 with a similar competitive 6 or 6.5 you may find the AR being outclassed a lot of the time. The bolt guns are just highly reliable and have less feeding issues and things to go down in a high round count match in unforgiving conditions.

I've been reading through the blog over the weekend. I've seen the articles on brakes, cartridges and scopes - will have to look again for something on the rifles.

I plan to take my wife to a F-Class practice match at the end of next month if I don't have to work.

They had one this past Saturday but I had to put in a 10 1/2 hour day at work.
