I'm at the information building process for reworking my model 16 I am wanting a 500 yard transmission line hunting deer rifle and info on barrel and stock combos would be great it seems not a lot of love for the wsm rounds. I already hand load 150g bergers and am confident with my current set up to 300yards after that's the gun goes to hell and can't hold a good pattern. Would a 26" or 28" help

Well...you left things kinda broad...but here goes.
First, welcome to the forum.
270wsm is a good round. 500yds should be no problem. Unless youre just wanting to get a new stock and barrel, theres a few things you could try first.
Make sure your barrel and tang are floated.
Im not sure how fast you're shooting but make sure you're allowing plenty of time for the barrel to cool between groups/shots.
You could try bedding the rifle, but I will say that most of the savage stocks are pretty flimsy, so a good stock maybe in order.
I personally dont think a 26-28in barrel will help with accuracy. A good barrel at 24in would be plenty.
Good optics make s difference as well...you cant shoot what you cant see. You didnt mention what optics you were running.
Alot of it goes to how much time/money are you willing to put into your rifle.
Hope this helps some.

Stock has been bedded stock barrel floated everything is right with the gun and the 3-15x50 zeiss never runs out of light you just run out off legal shooting time. Looking at around a grand max to re barrel and stock the gun

Well then...lol. Sounds like youve done most everything to begin with. What type of stock and such do you have in mind? The B&C medalists seem to have good opinions here. Actually getting ready to order one myself. They've got an aluminum bedding block. They run in the $250ish range. Boyds has some nice laminate stocks too. They're some cheaper but you may need to do a little work to them if you so choose.

Barrels.....Jim at Apache does excellent work but hes only taking repeat customers at the time being. Jim @ NSS is great to deal with and can order criterion or shilen barrels in pretty much any form you'd like. Mcgowens are good too. Those will be in the 300-350 range usually.

I would hesitate to do anything WSM. You'll need to re chamber barrel at least every 6-800 rounds, if not rebarrel it. They eat barrels. However, you were asking for suggestions so id find a stock you really like. McMillian, manners, B&C, hs precision, etc will all give you extremely good to decent fiberglass or synthetic stocks of some nature in many styles. Boyds is the way to go for budget builds if you don't mind wood laminate.

Id get a cheaper barrel. If your gonna stick with wsm, there's no reason to spend crazy money on a good barrel for a short lived life. Get something from Jim at apache gun works. He is good from what I hear.

I personally would get a 7mm SAUM. Better barrel life and not so many problems seating your bullet out to the lands and still be able too mag feed. Similar performance. Actually, my load data suggest SAUM is faster some how.

I am getting a 7mm Sherman short mag. It's based on a 7mm SAUM case, but is improved vastly. It should push a 180 Berger around 3050-3150. Will easily get me to 2000 yards.

I have a Savage 111 Trophy Hunter XP in .270 WSM. I can shoot <1" groups out past 700 yards strait out of the box with factory 130 grn Winchester ammo. When I use my handloads I can get a 1/4" group at 700 yards.

Rifle Specs:
Acuu-Triger
Synthetic stock
22" 1:10 Twist Barrel
Nikon 3-9 x 40 BDC Rectile Scope

In the original stock? Prone/bipod or on a bench ? I would like to see it ... 1/4"@ 700 yards, a lot of benchrest shooters are not able to achieve it with 25000.00$ rigs.

By the way your Savage model is 11(short action) in .270 WSM and your barrel is 24" not the 22" mentionned.

And the current world record for a 5 rounds grouping at 600 yards is 0.404" so a 0.250 (and your is at 700 yards) would give your the world record by an incredible margin!!!!
