Just got a model 111 .270...question about manufacture date....

I have picked up my second Savage rifle [first was a Savage .22 semi-auto]. This .270 has had a little work done to it [Timney trigger, Falcon scope & Choate stock]. I wanted to get the date of manufacture. It's an H621xxx serial number. The Savage website part finder does not date the build at all, all I got was a parts diagram. After searching for an hour I found this site, so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows about the serial number sequence enough to get the year of the build? Any info would be helpful....thanks!

Savage has not been real great about keeping records on manufacture dates through the years. If you go to the Savage FAQs on this site, it will get you in a general range by the Prefix letter in the S/N. Hope this helps.
