Will this work without changing out the magazine etc.? 30-06 to 22-250 Savage.

You would need a new magazine and follower, and, also a stock that supports the "short action" version of the Axis.

Yes and No. You can find them as a unit or separately. Easiest is to look on EBay/Amazon and just buy the entire pre-assembled magazine.

alright then if I get a short magazine and a Boyds stock for the short action I should be good to go?

Yes sir.. Thanks , that is what I needed to hear. Would trigger guard need to be changed to short action type guard?

I didn't know there were stocks that could fit short action magazines in a long action. Any feeding issues with that setup?
