I'm looking for some feedback on the new Bell Carlson M40 Medalist stocks with DBM and other than the rear tang screw issue, any other isssues? How is the stock shooting from a bench is it comfortable? What about hunting? I have 10P-SR and leaning towards this stock. Thanks.

I have a model 16 sitting in a M40 medalist. With accutrigger no fit problems, when I installed Sav-1 I had to dremel a bit on the rear area. Also dremeled the rear tang area to float the tang. (Not unexpected) The hinged floor plate fit perfectly and factory action bolts are correct length.

No problems while bench shooting and seems comfortable.

I may skim bed at later date as I notice that the action only seems to contact about 3/8" at the very bottom center area. May help to get from .300" to .200" groups.

I put my 10FP-SR in a M40 with no issues. I did change to a DBM with Savage parts and everything fit perfect. Groups with my best handloads went from a little over .700 to under .500 after the stock change.

Mine didn't seem to fit my action very well, Had to open up a few spots to get my barrelled action to fit straight in the stock.
I glass bedded the action after but I do that to all my rifles.
It's all done now and I really like the stock, I would get another one without hesitation.
