Aside from personal preference, are there any compelling reasons to choose one over the other? A scope I'm looking at offers both a FFP and SFP version. Unfortunately I can't just buy both and see which I prefer.

:)

This will be used exclusively for target shooting. Help me decide!!!

Here's a read that may help.

Read that...which was helpful. Seems to me like a FFP reticle isn't desirable for precision target work or shooting for groups.

Right?

That's the way I read it. I'm doing the same as you, what are you looking at buying ?

You dont need a FFP scope for normal target shooting.

They are used so you can mil or range at any magnification, but with FFP the crosshairs get thicker
as the magnification goes up so a 3-18X reticle will be super thin at 3x and fat at 18X.

Great for hunting, but not so great for target shooting.
