Just bought this new lovely gun as a step up from my m1500 308 as my ELR rifle. Also first crack at reloading a magnum caliber for percision. Only load 357/44/223 (tel:357/44/223) for cost previously.

---So first question here, I cannot figure out what scope base I need for this particular model. Some info says 8-40 size screws some says normal 6-48??? Does anyone have links to a 20 or 30moa base that fits? I have a vortex viper PST 6-24x50 FFP that will be going on it.

---this stock looks like a Boyd's w the same super hard recoil pad I have on my 308 which isn't very good on that but with its modest recoil it's not an issue, I have shot this gun yet but I KNOW it will be a problem for me. What are my options for a very soft replacement pad that goes on and fits smooth and flush and looks like factory?

Other thing is is I bought lapua brass, 5lbs of retumbo, and 300gr NCC projo's.
i think I'm going to full length size all the new brass then what should I trim them to for this particular model as a gold starting point so they are all very consistent as a starting point.

i also had to increase the trigger weight as it slam fired when closing bolt from the factory which is unacceptable to rely on the safety dingus trigger stopping the sear. It's set to 1.1lbs now which is nice tho

the big thing is I cannot find a scope base. The egw people don't return calls and the savage sales rep said the 112 magnum target does not use the same base the other 338LM use

No, it does not use that ungodly multi-rail abomination they put on the 110 Ba's. It's the same as any long action base, but it does take 8-40 screws.

Alright Thank you. Made some calls and got a base

mext big issues. Needs a new recoil pad for sure. Not one of the ghetto rigged slip over styles

Holy ****. During brake in today it's shooting around .35moa! A few 4shor groups less than an inch. All shots at 300yards

I've got a BA110 that shoots those tiny groups too. It's a nice feeling isn't it :)

EGW makes a base for it, they will drill it out for 8-40 screws....They did it for my 112 Magnum Target......so far not too impressed with rifle....bought some PNW Arms loaded ammo with 300 SMK's and was lucky to get between 4-5 MOA at 300....Lapua loaded ammo shot about 1.5 MOA at 300 with 250 Scenars....shot some 250 SMK's. 300 Scenars and 300 Noslers, all with Retumbo, 215M primers and Lapua brass....looking like rifle is liking the 250's more so than the 300's....got some Berger 250's enroute and I will load some of them up and see what happens....bedded the action and recoil lug, using a PST MRAD 6.5x20 scope....we will see. I had a 111 LRH in 338 and it was a total POS, Savage replaced barrel once admitting rifle was not right......it would shoot about 4 MOA at 300 which is disgusting.....sold it and hoping this one will get better with some tuning on loads...
