My Dillon 550 does not have enough space between the shell plate and the bottom of the Redding Competition die to either insert a 33 Lapua Mag case with a bullet or extract a completed round with the bullet seated.

Can anyone recommend a press that has enough space to handle seating the 338LM round using the Redding Competition Die??

Believe the Redding turret press will (we reload LONG 338 RUM on one). The big RCBS A2 - good luck finding one.

What is the overall length of a loaded round?

Check Lee. I think they make a press especaily for long cases.

Thanks for the input guys.

I found a solution.

After a long conversation with the folks at Redding, I ordered a Redding Big Boss II single stage press with a shell holder for the 338LM. There is not enough clearance for the Competition Die on the Dillon 550B. The Redding Big Boss has 4 1/2 inches of space which is more than enough for the 338LM with a loaded round OAL of 3.681 in. I use a hand primer to prime. And now the Dillon 550B will be used to decap, neck size and dump powder only. Another revelation for me and my limited knowledge, it takes the Dillon Optional Magnum Rifle Bar (max 72 grains extruded powder or 82 grains of ball powder) to handle the powder quantities for the 338LM.
