New gun and new to forum

Just purchased a 10 FCP with a choate stock in 308. Just looking for some feedback and suggestions.

Looking at putting a SWFA 10x42 on top of it.

Wanting to use this as a deer gun and target gun.

I have never loaded my own ammo, but will be eventually getting into this craft. Until I do, can you recommend some good hunting and target loads. Hunting will probably be out to 300 yards, targets out to 500, but would like to eventually go further.

And I know that every gun will require it own tweaks, but a starting point on a drop chart would be very helpful.

Congratulations on the new gun and welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of information on this forum, just use the search box in the upper RH corner and the answer to any question will appear. There is tons of information on tweeking the various parts of a Savage rifle, there is a section on optics, and a section on reloading. Hours of informative reading. Enjoy.
