Tomorrow starts the sale on the 12FVs for $319.99, no rebate needed.

Wait, does the vista promotion still apply?

Well, I didn't start a rumor. I just bought a 12FV in 6.5CM for $319.99. My final cost after tax, military discount and using 15%off gift cards was $275. That caliber is backorder though. The rebate flag is still on the online listing. I called earlier this week and they said that was an error and they were trying to fix it. I don't know if it will work.

I was killing time on Cabela's website, and they have a pretty crazy deal on the Savage 12 FV rifles right now. They're on sale for $319 and Savage is offering a $100 rebate. I called the rebate company to confirm the model is eligible, and it was.

I just thought I'd share in case anyone is looking for a donor or anything else. I'm contemplating putting a .308 into a Choate for F/TR starter rig.

Lmfao. I feel the same way. Cabelas is four hours away. I feel like I need to jump in the car at 2:00 a.m. To be there for the doors to open. $219 is just too cheap! Haven't seen those prices since the last of the Stevens 200 line!

Ordered a .308 yesterday, salesman said I could refuse it if the rebate was not in effect. Customer service told me to bring in my receipt and I may get an adjustment on monday's purchase. Will report back after I take the receipt in. Chris

So a couple questions for those who may know.

Can backorderable rifles be ordered and paid for in store? Online?

What time line would be realistic to expect the 6.5 Creedmoor to be delivered?

Trying to decide between .308 and 6.5, but sure would like to have the rifle for deer season in November.

Thank you, sdrookie

I paid for mine online and I don't see an option to pay in store...you might want to call them. My 1st rifle in .223 was backordered and took maybe 2 weeks to come in. I personally think you would get the 6.5 in plenty of time.

But for deer season? Do you really want to lug this beast around the woods or are you shooting them off your back porch? It's quite the chunk of steel...

Ha! I put my hands on one at a local gun shop. They are a hefty piece of equipment.

I am entering nursing school in January so need to be reasonable with my finances. My wife and I would like to put together a reasonable long distance setup, and this fits the bill. I have a Boyd's Pro-Varmint with a Karstens cheek rest that will fit this rifle. I won't have to use it forever, probably just this year, but I would like to get started putting it together. The responsible thing to do is sell my current rifle to finance this one.

Thanks for responding. I believe I will purchase tonight. Still unsure of caliber. I have a pile of once fired .308 brass, a suitable press, and could easily reload, which tends me to think .308 is the way to go.

But, how will I look to all the 6.5 cool kids if I'm shooting an old guy caliber? :)

I really wish they made the 12FV in .243 as I would get it in a heartbeat. I keep avoiding the new and shiny 6.5 as it just does nothing to stir my soul. I would get the .308 and enjoy all the cheap ammo you can run through it.

Be sure to get the gift cards to cut off another ~15% and enjoy your new toy...

I ordered the 6.5 creed online(back ordered) Hopefully the rebate works as advertised. Right on the page Cabelas is promoting it, so I would think it's being honored.

Not it sure how the gift card discount works? I once sold a gift card for Basspro in eBay and it sold for more than value? Never did figure that one out.

Backordered 6.5 for me as well. My wife and I discussed the two calibers and she wanted to try 6.5.

Now the waiting begins.

As stated earlier in a earlier post I had bought a .223 last Monday before the hundred dollar price drop. Went to the store and the manager said he could not refund me money because firearms are not returnable. He did suggest I could get the difference in accessories. (Store credit). Works for me! Chris

That is stellar! If Cabelas is listening in cyber-space hopefully they see the value in something like this. Customer service can make or break you. I also have had good experiences with Cabelas in the past.

I picked up one in 22-250 yesterday and did the rebate online lastnight.
Also mounted a Weaver 6-24x42 and ran a few patches through the barrel. I look forward to seeing how it shoots.
anybody know where to find a good sale price on a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock?

I have a 12fv 6.5C that I bought a few weeks back when they were on sale for $389 and the 6.5 had just come out. It shipped to my local store in less than a week. Shoots awesome! With the current deal I just got a .223 yesterday. Paid online, picked up in store next day. The store told me rebate should work. I haven't filled out the form yet.. I was pleased for $319.... $219 would be an absolute robbery!

Huh, this doesn't make sense. You bought two rifles? Please explain how you got $217?

319 Sale price subtract $100 rebate = $219. Maybe he had a couple bucks in cabelas points or possibly had a gift card that lessened the amount a couple dollars.

My guess anyway.

Got my 223 yesterday. $319.99 plus tax. Will fill out the info for the $100 Visa gift card tomorrow. 1-9 twist and price pushed me over the edge!
