Take a 12FV from you? Sure!

I also got a .22-250 despite not shooting that round. I originally intended on just tearing it down and building a new gun, but I was seduced—SEDUCED I say—by a sale on some .22-250 ammo. So now it's scoped up and ready to try. It will still probably be parted out, but I couldn't resist seeing if it was as accurate out of the box as my .308 Win.

Hopefully it shoots awful and you can get on with your project. Worst is it teases you with some good and some so so and you keep trying to get it to work nad 10,000 round latter your heart is broken.

If your 22-250 FV shoots like my FVSS you may as well go ahead and buy another rifle for your project. LOL

MY FV is somewhere in between. If my 308 barrel ever gets here I get to cross compare loads. Sub MOA but not by a lot. I think it should be and I can do better.

Stay tuned!

And it has occurred to me to get another one when on sale, all sorts of calibers dancing in my head, shoot it, if its good keep the barrel and swap back from time to time or have a swap action that you play with and a keeper you don't

I am still chewing on it and if I add a caliber to the long action and which one.

And they are back in stock (somewhat) at the East Grand Forks Cabela's.

For those following the rebate situation, I mailed my rebate March 5, noticed the first time it was in process om April 17, and received check today. That is well over three months.

FYI: you can make the deal even juicier by buying cabelas gift cards from sams/Costco, I think they sell the gift cards at $5 discount, it is either $75 card at $70 or something.

So buy $300 worth of gift cards and save another $20-$25 :-)

I had a $20 off coupon that I failed to take with me when I got my 12FV

I'm just now stumbling upon this deal and thinking about trying to see if cabelas in Bowling Green has a 308 in this model for deer hunting. Hard to pass up a good 250 rifle(after rebate).

Keep in mind its a Varmint barrel, which means heavy! .860 at muzzle I believe, not quite a bull but close. 26 inch barrel.

Here's another data point for rebate turn-around:

I purchased on 4/24 and mailed the rebate info the next day. Vista Outdoor received and changed to Processing status on 5/9. On 6/24 the status changed to Submission Fulfilled. Hoping to see the check soon.

I picked up a 12FV in .223 at a Cabela's in Ohio yesterday. It was the last one in stock there in that caliber. It was on sale at $349 still and the rebate is still on. I was pleased with the Cabela's experience. It was my first firearm purchase there. They are very organized and service-oriented. Great looking store.

I am very impressed with the overall build quality for the price. I also own a .223 Edge/Axis and a Remington 700 5r MilSpec in .308. The bolt operation is far superior to the Axis and feels about equal to the 5r MilSpec. The stock on the FV is the weak link, but I knew this going in. The standard AccuTrigger on the FV came in at about 2 lbs. as measured. I may try to get it slightly lower. The Axis and the Rem 700 5r both have Timney triggers in them that cost $'s, but perform great. I think I can live with the stock AccuTrigger and save some bucks. I ordered an EGW 80300 rail and will be stealing the rings, optic, and bipod from the Axis. I should be up and running before the end of June. I will be handloading utilizing Varget powder and Sierra 69 gr. TMK's. I will update after the first test session with full details.

I just bought one at the Cabela's in Maine in .223. Price was $349. I used $25 in Cabela's points and the cashier gave me another $25 in Cabela's points because I am a regular there. I can not find the receipt now to get the $100 rebate.

Still a great gun for the money.

if you bought it on your rewards a/c I think you can look up your receipts, try it or call cabelas and they can you give you a reprint.

Slight diversion from the new guy. Best I can tell the 12FV is the same gun as the Cabela's Exclusive Model 2 Prairie Dog but with a 26 inch barrel rather than a 22 inch barrel. Did I get that right?

The stocks are different. 12fv has wider beavertail fore arm and prairie dog his a narrower fore arm, same as a sporter stock.

Thanks CGH. I was thinking about upgrading to a Boyd's stock on my Prairie Hunter, but don't know if they make one for it.

They do.

look for model 10 (same as 12)
top bolt release, center feed blind mag, factory barrel (all stocks are available for this, but you will have to open up the barrel channel for the heavy barrel. No big deal).

if you want Pro varmint or thumbhole, you can go bull barrel and it will be a drop in fit (as drop in as Boyds gets, they all need fitting sometimes).

Another rebate data point. Bought my 12FV .223 at Cabelas on 4/21 and received my rebate today. On another note, sending my12FV .22-250 back to Savage as it has developed pressure signs in a load that was once fine.

Is there a website where you can the status of your rebates? I've got 2 rebates mailed in , and would like to know the status of 'em.
