Factory loads not firing

Hey guys,
I went to the shooting range last week and brought a 100 box of federal ammo I picked up early. Two of the rounds didn't fire. Is this something that's common with factory ammo. My last box of federal had 0 malfunctions out of 100. It's not a big deal to me because I just use my rifle for target shooting, but if I was out hunting A misfire could be very heartbreaking

No, That is not common.
Did you try multiple times to fire them?
I would start simple, like a firing pin spring/protrusion issue.
Next would be headspace issues.
Then the one (other than restrikes) that you can't test is bad components in the ammo.

What darkker said. It is not unheard of but is not common for factory ammo to be faulty. I bought some remington 22-250 ammo years ago and 2 out of a box of 20 had splits down the neck in the box unfired. Were the misfires at the beginning or end of the string and were they together or random? Random i would chalk it up to faulty ammo but together i would look at the rifle then the ammo.
