Wc844 for 223

I have a savage 10fp 223 pre accutriger. What is opinion on wc844 powder for accuracy loads

844 is 846, with a tighter CaCO allowance; but the recipe is identical, just differs on an as-built.
846/844 is the go to for it. Dr. Bramwell has shown it as less sensitive in that cartridge, than Varget.

Arent all the wc powders surplus?

No.
WC powders are Non-Canister grade. Probably for the general public to buy them they have been surplussed, but they aren't inherently a surplus.
