I don't know if I will ever figure the Savages out, there's so many variations.
Mine is a short action and that's all I know, any info and details would be very helpful.
The best I can measure it looks like a 4.4 screw spacing.
What do I have?
And what would I have to do to install an extended magazine, 10 rounds or more?
Thanks

Your action is short action, centerfeed. You are correct on the 4.4 spacing. This action was sold as action assy. no barrel or stock & was then assembled as complete rifle. The bottom metal came with the action. If the barrel is not marked on outside, look in the chamber at the area around the chamber, it may have info.

According to Savage's site, you have a 'VARMINT ACT 223 REM SH AT SS'

Go to this site and plug in your serial number (G881689):

https://store.savagearms.com/partfinder/

You can also call Savage to get further information on the action.
