All,
I plan to do some sanding on a boyds laminate stock. it does not free float the entire way down so before I bed it I am going to open the channel a bit. What is the easiest way to seal the channel after I do this? it does not need to look good as it will be under the barrel BUT it needs to be sealed from the elements. thanks!

Boyds uses a lacquer finish, so do what I did. Go to Wally World and buy a can of MinWax spray lacquer, either satin or gloss depending on the finish on the stock. Give it a few coats and you'll be good to go.

I usually mix up a small dab of epoxy and rub it in the channel with my finger. Leaves a nice clear durable finish and dries in just a few minutes. A little bit goes a long ways.

Ditto on spray lacquer. Taped off all but channel and applied a few coats. Easy peasy.
