anyone have much experience with these? its a remington footprint...
biggest question i have is will one of these fit in a McMillan stock thats inletted for a remmy?
the mcmillan remmy stock wouldnt be inletted for the barrel nut, would i just have to special order one for the Shilen action....and wait 6-10months?
a wood stock wouldnt be a problem, i could just finish the stock myself for the nut but i was wanting a McMillan...
i sent mcmillan this question but it may be awhile before i get a response.
thanks

Yes they are standard R700 foot print. I own one and I am actually about to put it on the market this week.

It's not that I am unhappy with it! It is a great action, but in the level of competition on the PRS and other matches of this type I've been heavily participating in, it just can't keep up and was causing me many of the same issues as the Savage actions were. Be a great action for slow paced belly matches or a reliable high end hunting rig. I ended up replacing it with an ARC Mausingfield which has absolutely 0 issues doing anything I've needed out of an action. This is not a low quality action by any means, it just does not perform in the realm I wanted/needed to be more competitive. My scores increased exponentially after moving to an action that does not require constant tuning to play the game.

Going Defiance deviant tactical? That is pretty close to the top of the list for me. I'm thinking that or a Kelbys tactical and a Panda. Then I can swap barrels, bolts between guns. PRS has turned into a very competitive game, I know I couldn't compete with the rifles I have now. It has gone far enough they almost need a factory class, but that's so hard to enforce.

So in other words, you needed the reliable feeding of a controlled round feed action with an equally reliable Mauser extractor setup for PRS competition. I've looked at the ARC Mausingfield action, but for what I do (varmint hunting and pleasure shooting) I can't justify dropping $1,600 for an action.

That's exactly the case. The Mausingfield cycles reliably, lightning fast, every time!

Meh, I just want one to have something a little more fancy. A shilen/stiller action in a McMillan marble stock.
And all I'll use it for is bench and long range yotes... Not that my savages don't work..
500y shots on yotes are common from the bluff.

Just making sure these actions drop right into a McMillan with no issues with barrel nut fitment...
I've gotta sell a couple actions/barrels and build one of these!

Where have I been to miss the ARS rifle? $1600 it's only money..... So are they large or small shank? Then I wouldn't have to buy any more barrels. Hmmmm

Everything after #25 is a small shank, they were large shank #1-#25. I have #79😁

Uh oh they're may be a couple left hand short action rifles for sale soon.... What trigger are you going to run on it? How long did it take to get it?

I had an inside man lol. Ted Karagias is a freaking genius! I run a Timney 517 Straight trigger between 1 and 1.5lbs. Love it.

The Timney taking the dirt good? I had one on a rifle a while back hat I really liked, it could handle being dirty where the Jewel couldn't.

Runs fine, after a long day in the desert I just blast it with whatever lightweight aerosol spray oil I have. One shot case lube and one shot cleaner and lube both work well. Case lube is better at cleaning triggers than it is as a case lube.

Sorry about your thread Joe, got severely distracted by gun porn. LW, can you drip feed it ? Drop one in at a time through the ejection port (I know you can't in a Mauser.)

Yep, told you Ted is a genius. He worked out every possible detail.

No brass damage from drip feeding it either? I think I'm going to have to sell one rifle to get one.

Nope. Brass gets beat up a little from being tossed like 10ft upon ejection if ran at full speed. But that's why I'm shooting 243. Brass doesn't hurt my feelings
