Ordered one of these from Jim at Nss that should be coming soon. It's gonna be screwed into a model 16 action and put in an hs precision stock. Stock is bedded and a timney trigger is hung. Seekins base and low rings will mount a scope, possibly a bushnell lrhs 4.5-18x44.

This is my third barrel from nss, and the first that is of a medium contour.

What's everyone else doing with a similar barrel?

Got mine in 6.5X47L (similar capacity to the 260) Would have preferred more weight. The 1:8 twist creates a LOT of torque making it hard to keep the scope on target after the shot. I added lead to the mag. well & fore-end reducing the torque effect a bit. Eventually added a wide stance bi-pod to replace a Harris bi-pod. If I go with another Criterion in 8 twist, I'll use a non-contoured, threaded, chambered & crowned blank to add weight & reduce torque effect. NOTHING wrong with accuracy :) P.S. Welcome to the forum!

I'm not planning to shoot off the bench much with this one, I have several with heavy contoured barrels. My savage in 300wm weighs 20lbs and it's not easy to manuver (28" criterion bull barrel). Was hoping to hunt with this and bang a little steel.

I have some 139 scenar, 140 hunting vlds and hybrids, 140 amax, and 142 smks to try. I'm hoping h4350 will produce good results.

Going to attempt to put a matte finish on the barrel with scotchbrite pads to match the receiver I've done.

Thanks for the welcome!

Sounds like a great hunting rig with that LRHS. Did you get it threaded? I know the last barrel from NSS took some time since I had CBI thread the barrel.

No threading, I'm not a brake fan. I think I called nss in mid may and Jim said he had four due the end of july/first of august. Iirc, I was getting the third one at that time.

24" 1:8 twist recessed crown.
