I see no need for a variable if you are only shooting stationary targets from the bench.

Went with a Dewey rod,warne one piece mount. I don't remember the brand of rings but they looked very strong and cost me $50. Now I'm ready to shoot. Things I want to add in the future are: trigger job, bipod, and a shooting vise but that will all come later

Got my rifle today!! Still waiting on the scope mount but still very happy to have my rifle. I just found out there is a rebate on them that started on 08/01/15 so now I have some more money to reinvest into my project. Timney trigger or pro varmint stock?????

congrats, russ ... my immediate choice would be to get the timney trigger and rockite the stock. the supplied axis trigger is a dog no matter what gun stock ya use, and quite honestly that rockite makes for a Very usable plastic stock.

After holding the rifle for a while, I can really feel the difference between the pencil and heavy barrel. Wow!

EGW mount came in but the place ordered the wrong rings for my scope. Have to wait another week to get it mounted. I picked some Froglube I will let you guys now how it works for me. Read a lot of great reviews about it. It went on a little different than the other lubes I have used in the past but I figured I would give it a try.

I took the stock off of the rifle and noticed there is a yellow wax on the screws to get to the trigger spring. Is this so the manufacturer can tell if you have changed the spring?

no, keeps things from moving off the factory "safe and heavy" setting.

Nah, I think it's just a thread locking compound. You should be able to remove the spring without removing the yellow guck from the outside at least. On my first trigger job, I left the yellow stuff in place and threaded the set screw in from the top.

there are lots of "features" about scopes to consider. while there is some merit to *quality* variable power scopes (not cheap!), most shooting/aiming can be well accomplished with a *good* fixed power scope. consider that the 4x to 10x scope was - and to a fair degree, still is - the military standard sniper favorite. fixed scopes are also typically more durable, with less to "go wrong" than a variable power, not having to settle for a 2nd focal plane, and better glass with less distortion. besides the glass/optics, also consider the turrets and their degree of adjustments.

i would highly recommend the swfa ss line of fixed power mrad military scopes and my fave for 100 yards and out to 1000 yards is still their $300 classic 10x42 tactical mrad 30mm. check it out ...

It resembles the Bushnell 3200 10x tacticle which is also a nice scope.
I totaly agree that fixed power scopes under 20x is all thats necessary even for extreme distance.
For hunting, field of view is also very important. Finding an animal when its moving, especially where there are
lots of trees can be difficult unless there is a decent field of view. And on follow up shots it can be even more difficult.
Thats when the gears start turning about ways to shoot other than laying on your belly using a bipod.
For those that just have to have more power, a (good) varieable is the only way to go.
A T36 Weaver is a very good scope Foxx, but certainly not for L/R hunting.
And not all days even for benchrest.

Yobuck. I would never suggest the t-36 for hunting. Maybe someone else did or might. I only suggested it for bench, target.

Finally got to break in the barrel today. It took a long time but it's done and I'm happy. Next step will be zeroing the scope. I need to find a range around me that is 100 yards.
