The 2 times I had barrels ordered from SSS the wait time was about 6 months. As I understand it, that is about standard for a custom rifle barrel. The wait time was well worth it though. The accuracy and precision of the rifles those barrels are mounted to is amazing. I had them cerekoted last September.

Unless you plan on shooting in the upper echelon of bench rest. Don't get hung up on cut-rifled. I've several Kriegers, as well as, McGowens and Criterion. I've shot in the .1's &.2's with all the bbls. Some more consistently than others....... Stocks, rests, triggers, optics & balance are just as important! ........ But, when you just gotta have a cut rifle I sure wouldn't hold it against you :) +1 for my Criterion it shoots just as well as the Kriegers.

Kinda with gotcha on this. If you are looking for an accurate barrel that will serve you well then Mcgowen, CBI or several others with be more than enough. I have shot a lot of .25" groups with Mcgowen barrels. I worked up loads like week for a second 6x47 Lapua I put together and the first two loads produce very small groups and I am completely happy with it.

With that said, Kreiger, Bartlein, Lilja, Brux, Hart are at the top of the business and the only one of those I owned is a Brux. The one Brux barrel I have will truly shoot less than .1" . I may have to rebarrel a rifle I picked up last weekend, as it shoots like crap, yes it is a Remington. If I have to put a barrel on it, it will be from this group of names.

I think I'm stuck on Brux at the moment. I've had several shilen, mcgowen, pacnor and cbi. They all shoot to my expectations...I just want taste of the cut rifiling world. SSS has done the crawdad on me, they can't guarantee me a barrel in six weeks. I'm just waiting to see what all barrel blanks Brux has sent them, that's what they're not sure of. Hopefully they'll have a spare for me.
