Well.....I'm hooked! This was my first. Started out as a Savage Predator Max in .260 Remington. It's now skim bedded in a B&C M40 stock and is sporting a Bushnell Elite Tactical G2 6-24x50 with the Dark Eagle detachable mag. I LOVE this caliber and combination....it's my go to white tail rig with 140grn SMKs over IMR 4064. Just dead nuts accurate!

Just finished putting this one together. I took my Bear Hunter in .300 Win Mag and removed the on/off break. I had a local magician of a machinist make an adapter for the weird 9/16x28 threads to convert to 5/8x24. My YHM suppressor makes this a joy to shoot now. I wanted to make this one special so I added the McMillan A5 and a Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 scope. I'm a big fan of the CDI bottom metal too. I'm no sniper but I can't imagine many rifles being more accurate than this one. The problem is that I can't shoot better than about a half MOA most of the time. So I'm sure this gun is more accurate than me.

I felt like I needed a solid 7.62 rifle.....so I picked up a Model 10FP-SR. Dropped it in a HS Precision stock with CDI bottom metal and a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 scope. It's the least accurate of the three....probably need to bed it. But it still shoots sub MOA all day. I love the handy 20" barrel.

I'm new to the forum....I just want to say it's nice to find a place where people aren't bashing Savage rifles and spouting the Remington 700 dogma. Don't get me wrong....I've got a couple of good shooting 700s. But I poured a lot of time and money into getting them to shoot that way....and had to pay a gunsmith to do it. There is just something down right rewarding about being able to work on these Savage's myself. There is very little that I'm not comfortable doing with them.

Anyway....just wanted to say hello. I'm sorry for the crappy quality of the phone pics. I'll try to get something better posted down the road.

Be Safe!

Very Very nice guns and welcome. Loving them all but the .260 and the .308 are my favorites. what stock color is that called on the .308? that is one mean looking gun. Also how would you compare the recoil between the .260 and the .308?

That HS Precision stock is the black with gray webbing. Got it from Stocky's.

The recoil on the .260 is significantly less than the .308. I'm going to guess by about a third. But I rarely shoot the .308 without a suppressor which makes it comparable to a .223. I'm going to have the .260 threaded to take the suppressor as well. It's kind of funny....I got the suppressor so I could shoot without hearing protection but it's the reduction in recoil that I love.

Welcome Heavyweight!,, Very nice builds! I bought my first Savage about 15 years ago and never let me down,, anything from -10 f degree coyote hunting in the snow and ice too 105 f in sand dirt and gravel.

I went to the online Midway store and bought all sorts of bolt parts for (just in case) bolt heads extractors firing pins and retainers, and firing pin springs,, I like working on my own rigs too!
