Smooth Barrel Nut

Was a little apprehensive about removing the Savage smooth barrel nut as I have heard stories of them being put on by an 800lb gorilla! Anyway, tightened the action in the action vise, hooked on the barrel nut with a pipe wrench, gave the wrench a couple of smacks with a hammer and it came right off. I guess it's time to order a barrel and stock.

Already got that. I started with a Model 11 in 243. I already converted the nonadjustable trigger over to an Accutrigger. I have all the parts to convert blind mag to detachable mag. I have a 6mm Rem Go gage. All I need now is a stock from Boyds and a new 6mm Rem barrel. I was hoping to get a McGowen cut rifled barrel but it seems they are still a ways out from offering anything but 30 cal.

what contour are you looking for? GunShack has 26" varmint contour.

I wish. I'm from Canada so my barrel supplier list is limited and expensive!
