As I was removing my extractor to headspace my new barrel I shot the ball across the room. Just my freakin luck lately. Anyway, where in the world can I find one of these things to purchas?

Try a hobby shop or your local auto parts or repair to see if they have any bearings.

If you can't find one, let me know and I will mail you two.

Make sure the ball bearing replacement is .140" diameter. Your extractor will work better with the larger bearing.

I have found a good selection of the proper size ball bearings at my local bicycle shop. Minimum order from a machine supply is many more guns than my wife would approve.

I checked a couple of places after work today. No luck finding anything that was small enough.

I think GunShack also sells an extractor kit with the ball bearing, might check them out if you have to order one.

The original balls are .125"
.140" balls (9/64") work better.

Fastenal used to carry the 9/64" balls, but when I looked today, I only found a box of 120,000. I think that is more than you might want.

Grainger has a box of 100. You could buy that and then generate lots of good will by giving most of them away.

For some reason, apparently 9/64" is popular with bicycle bearings. I'd try that route that an earlier poster suggested.

Suggestion in hindsight. Work on teeny weeny parts inside a large clear plastic bag to contain anything that goes "sproinggg!"

PM me your address and I can send you a few. They work great. And BTW: And you would improve your ejection as well with one of these replacing the .125 bearing Savage uses. I also installed the "newer" ejector pin that Savage now uses. And my rifle tosses the empties clear of the action. Where before, it was rather lackluster.
