I'm "0ne of those" also, and proud of it.
And to those "others" I tell'm, "Well, there's one thing you can do I can't, you can kiss my ......".:p
One of the things I miss most on the 4th, putting on the firework show near our camp outside Blain, Pa. I'm not taking about little smoke bombs or bottle rockets, but the real McCoys. The largest shells were 12", the finales were typically 250-350 2-1/2 -3" with 4",5" and 6" singles, two or three ground displays and a couple flower pots in between.
But as the costs increased it just became to expensive while the donations dwindled next to nothing. We were lucky to get $500 for 5-6 thousand dollar show. I didn't get involved in the financials, but IIRC a 12" alone cost about $250-$300 a pop.
