I posted this in the help me decide forum but thought maybe it might get a little more views here.

I have a Savage 10 HS Precision and I am looking to buy 200 or 400 rds of either FGMM 168 or American Eagle 168 otm. I am not looking to get super tight groups, just shooting 12" steel plates from 100 to 800+ yards (I am at 6000+ Feet elevation so will see how the 168s do).

FGMM 168 for $235 shipped (200 rds) or $462 shipped (400 rds)

OR

American Eagle 168 OTM for $200 shipped (200 rds) or $400 shipped (400 rds)

I have shot 20 rds of the FGMM through my rifle and it really liked it, but has anyone tried the 168 OTM? Should I spend the extra $35/$62 for the FGMM?

Any help would be great.

Mike

800+ yards the 175gr bullet would be much better the 168gr bullets are designed for 600 yards, you can shoot them farther but their are better bullet options
but the FGMM is a good choice
i reload for my savage 10 hs, if you shooting out to 800+ yards you need the best accuracy you can get and a bullet that can get there
as far as the american eagle im not sure how it shoos

Personally, I would buy a box of each and see how it shoots in my gun before buying in bulk like that. Nothing worse than ordering several hundred rounds of ammo only to find out it doesn't shoot worth a crap in your rifle.

Been shooting 168smk,s from 100 out to 1k for years. From gas guns to bolt guns.
At that altitude,I guarantee you won't have stability (transonic)issues with the 168,s .
I've been reloading 168,s for the past 20 years and have never had stability issues or considered it to be a "certain yardage " projectile.
I'm shooting any where from 3800 to 4200ft elevation.
If I had finances available, I'd definitely go FGMM.
Imo, there that good.
To be fare, I haven't had the opportunity of trying American Eagle .
