I spent the last 8 months or so managing the construction of our detached garage/workshop and I haven't spent any time working on rifle 'builds'. In the mean time some barrels I had ordered were arriving, so now it's time to get busy.
All four barrels are McGowen. All four are Shilen #7LV contour with 11 deg muzzle. The 260 Rem, 6.5 Grendel, 223 Rem are 24" and the 284 Win is 25".
The 260 Rem barrel (1:8) is identical to the one on my current primary LRP rifle (Which shoots 140 A-Max at 2875FPS 1/2 MOA) and is intended to be the replacement when the current barrel is 'shot out'.
The 6.5 Grendel (1:8) or the 223 Rem (1:7) barrel is going to be used to build an LRP rifle for my wife. I have a new SS 4.4" centerfeed, DBM action for the build but I haven't decided which barrel to use at this point.
The 284 Win (1:8) is going on a target repeater action (scavenged from a Savage LRP) with Manners T5 stock. I plan to shoot A-Max 162s (or Berger 180 VLD Hybrids if they will fit within SA mag length (2.98")).
