I am interested in building a 338 EDGE. Does that limit the build to using the older large size action? Would appreciate any info. If you have built or have had one of these built, would appreciate your recipe. Thanks PS, soon I hope, I will be able to communicate as a paid member as I have my fee in the mail

I have built many of them for people on the std shank actions. Some people build them on large shank actions but most are on std shank.

I have gotten two 338 Edge barrels from Sinman. Both of them are small shank.

To all, Thanks for the repys.. Are the small shank barrels used on the newer receivers? Did Savage build the RUM cal.rifles on multiple receiver sizes?

rum's are on small and large, new ones come both ways, wsm and the target actions are large

Sinman, Sir, I thought the barrel shank used for all calibers at the present time was 1.052 Is that incorrect? Not including the new .338 lapua rifles.

nope that is incorrect, all the WSM rifles and LRVP (target actions) are 1.120"

Sinman, Sir, when you build the edge rifles on a standard action , are they repeaters?

If you have a factory rum/stw/h&h rifle you can have a repeater other wise you need to lengthen the mag box to allow for proper bullet seating.
