Need help with front rest and rear bag...

Looking at the Bald Eagle front rest and have a few questions..

1. Cast iron base or Aluminum? I think the cast is 21 lbs and the aluminum is 12 lbs..

2. My stock is 2-3/4" at the fore end but I only see a 2-1/4" and 3" front bag. Would I get the 3" and just set the front to squeeze that 3" bag down a bit?

3. Is that Bald Eagle rear bag a good entry level bag? is this whole Bald Eagle setup a good entry level setup?

Any other input on this type of setup would be appreciated...

Entry level rear: Get a Protetor or Edgewood, might as well get set up right and get used to one of these. Not that much difference in cost.

Personally, Sinclair has several front rest to choose from and one of them should fit your budget.

The Bald Eagle rest is made for a bag that is 4 5/8'' in length, most bag's are to long. Protektor will make a bag to fit, for same price as standard bag. Need to call Protektor and give them the dimensions. Some of the Sinclair rest need 4 5/8'' bag.

I bought one and found this company to be very easy to talk too and work with. Delivery was actually a little over a week early and cost was $450 delivered to my door( 2 years ago). He will even customize it to your wants or needs. You will have to call him to order and discuss any changes or discriptions of what you want.

I love the windage tops! I also like the tension bolts for bag ears being on top!

I just might modify my rest. Or just buy a new rest.

I would be nice to have a cable adjustment for the wind age adjustment.

Dennis I watch guys at the BR matches I attend and they have problems with the cables, if not just right they seem to bind, most have gone to the rod style. As for the one I have the adjustment is just as fast and stable.

LongRange when I had mine made I sent Dan two 1.5" bubble levels from McMaster-Carr and he milled them right into the base for me (no charge).Call now because he is always 6-7 weeks out and does not charge until the unit is done and ready for shipping.

This is mine only difference I used the knurled knobs all around and had the levels put in $450tmd.

I ended up going with Dan on the rest. I got the adjustable windage top and put it on a Caldwell Rock base until I can afford a better base for it. I just need to get a nice rear bag now and I'll be set. Looking at the original edgewood bag for that. Dan was great to deal with and delivered about a week ahead of schedule. I think the total wait time was about 5 weeks..
