Trying out a Sav 2 trigger

I have a 110 with accu trigger and a varmint spring. The lowest it can be adjusted to is 1 Lb 9 Oz. I am not satisfied for the target work I am trying to do with a Shilen 6 BR barrel on a 110. I talked it over with my LGS and he has experience with after market triggers and highly recommended a rifle basix sav2. Should be here and ready for testing in 3 weeks or so. The only concern I have is which action to test. I have a second 110 with an older 3 screw trigger that i use as a hunting rifle - currently a 7mm Mag. I sort of like the set up on it with a 2 1/2 Lb trigger for hunting field use.

I would not suggest you use a SAV-2 for hunting. It would only be used for target shooting .

Depends on the type of hunting but in general, Yes. My 338-06 has approx a 3lb trigger and find it quite nice.

I have 3 Sav2's and really like them. They are all set around 12-14oz and I also use them for varmint hunting. They take a little while to get set up but when you get it they're great! I also have a LRP with the Target Accu trigger around 14oz that I hunt mostly ground hogs with. I guess if you're hunting with gloves on or the gun gets knocked around that would be a little light.

Sav-1 is fine for hunting. It's crisp, has plenty of of adjustment to eliminate creep and over travel and costs much less than the Sav-2. It's also many times easier to install and adjust.

Sav-2 is a far better target trigger.

Yes, the Sav-2 can be set for higher (hunting range) poundage, but it is a pain to adjust between high and low. There are two diferent sets of springs (one for hunting/higher poundage, another for target/lower poundage) and multiple combinations of screw/lever settings to play with. Basically, it's something you would want to put the time into adjusting for target use maybe once and then never fool with again.

If you want a hunting trigger, the Sav-2 is overkill.
If you want a target trigger, the Sav-1 won't do.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the explanation. I have no trouble tuning the factory trigger for either job so I have never needed one. I do have a Timney on a LR 280AI and it is nice enough.
