Great forum here with a lot of good information! I'm looking forward to spending some time here!
Looking for some help identifying a model of a Savage I saw at Cabela's. .22-250 with a stainless fluted barrel, detachable magazine, accustock and accutrigger. Model 16 is all I could get out of the Cabela's employee. I can't find anything about it online...savage website, google or gunbroker. Were these a special run for Cabela's?
Whatever model this is, does anyone have any experience with it? I'm looking for a heavy barreled hunting rifle for coyotes, p-dogs, etc....this one seems to fit the bill, but I'd like to learn more about it first.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

If it is a heavy barrel it is not a model 16. The only Model 16 they show with a DBM and accustock does not have a varmint barrel. Maybe they did do a special run just for Cabelas I dont know.

The guy shoulda been able to give you a model number though.

It is could be a 12fvss, but they dont show it coming with an accustock or a dbm.

Here's what models come with the accustock, and the 16fcss fits your description best, only it is a sporter barrel.

Welcome to the forum, and I hope this helps somewhat.

It was definately a Model 16, I saw that on the side of the barrel....and it also had a fluted barrel, not the sportster barrel. That's what has me confused.

Probably a special run Savage did for Cabela's. Bigger outfits like Cabela's, Bass Pro, Jerry's, etc. have the money to order a couple hundred units at a time, and in doing so they can have them built however they want them...so long as it's a combination of standard parts Savage has on the shelf.
