VXR 2-7×33 on a long action???

Anybody know if it would be possible to mount a Leupold vxr 2-7×33 on a Savage 116 using Talley lightweight one piece? Or would I have to step up to the 3-9×40 model? I know it's a very specific question but figured someone here would know.

I don't believe it's gonna fit. I've got a Vari X II in 2-7 on a 7Mag, and had to use the Leupold extended front ring to make it work with the Leupold 2 piece base.
