A buddy knew I was looking for a 300 rum in a savage for a 338 edge build. He found one and gave it to me today. Its a g serial number without the accutrigger so it has to be early 2002. Does anyone know if its a small or large shank. Has serial number of sf7 and a202 stamped by the barrel nut.

SF7 is not a serial number.

Small shank barrel is on the left. Notice the step in the shank of the large shank barrel on the right.

Small shank again on the left, notice the difference in length of the barrel nut.

Thanks for the pic, I recall reading about a change in bolt size with the early 116 rum. It's a g code.

Run the serial number through the savage parts finder, click on the barrel, action, recoil lug, and barrel nut and check the description. One of those parts will most likely tell you whether it's a small shank or large shank. If you have the gun in hand, it should be real evident which it is without further investigation.
There was no change in bolt size.
