Brand new 110 FCP HS Precision .338 Lapua owner. First savage rifle. Brand new to scoped rifles, have been open sight and small caliber shooter all my life. Have not put a scope on this yet. Would appreciate any help I can get. My understanding is that it has a 20 moa rail on it. I like the Nightforce NXS line. Any help would be very appreciated. I also have been reloading for about a year so will be asking questions on that as well.

Thanks

Welcome aboard... I personally don't own a NF (a little steep for my bank account!) but everyone says if you go by the mantra of "buy once cry once" NightForce is the way to go. I've been from one side of the globe to the other... Spent some time in the Caucus Mountains, Latvia, Western Africa, Australia and other less desirable places but have never been to Alaska but always wanted to go... lots of wide open spaces; Alaska, Montana, and Wyoming are my top three choices on retirement destination if the wife will let me.

Welcome - if you can afford it, I don't think you'd be unhappy with NF.

Well I ordered the NXS 8-32x56 with MOAR-T reticle last night. Should have it in a week or so. Lots of open space here to shoot!!!

Welcome! What part of Alaska? My sis and brother in law were in Anchorage while he was stationed there. Had the chance to go up there a few years ago and loved it. Beautiful place!

I'm from Valdez now. Started in Barstow California, worked my way North after Air Force until I couldn't go any further, Rogue River Oregon, Spokane Washington, Barrow Alaska. All over North Slope, Kotzebue, Nome, etc, then back down to King Salmon and finally Valdez. Am a A&P mechanic which is what got me to Alaska in the first place. Now work for the local power company and will stay here in Valdez until something real good or real bad happens.
Thanks again for all the greets.

Barrow? Wow! Cant get any farther up than that lol. I know places like Fairbanks can have actually pretty warm temps at times as well as obviously the cold too. How was the weather in Barrow? The cold had to have been ridiculous. Valdez is at least somewhat in the vicinity of Anchorage lol, we didnt go that direction too far. We went more south toward seward and Kenai, to fish, which was awesome by the way.
Welcome again,

Barrow is cold (-40), there are 4 seasons.....Winter, June, July, & August! There are a couple of months of 40 to 60 which felt like 80, lol. Valdez is a lot more pleasant, more green, but lots of snow. I have a two story house with a deck and most years I can dam near step off my deck to the snow on my front lawn......no kidding! Can't beat this place when the weather is nice though, truly gods country! Anchorage is a 30 minute plane ride or a 6 hour drive. Funny how fast one gets used to a six hour drive!
