I acquired a blued 20" .308 barrel recently, I'm unsure of what model rifle its from. Standard contour, drilled and tapped for iron sights. Would appreciate any info. I paid $50 for it, doesn't look like its been used much.

Assuming it is a sporter barrel? I dont think any newer varmint barrels were drilled for sights, but the older ones were.

Is it a shiny blue, or more of a matte black?

If it is a shiny blued sporter, it is probably a 22"(measured to the end of the threads where it screws into the action) off a model 11, 12, or 14.

If it is a matte black varmint contour it should be off a model 10fp, although I dont think these were tapped for sights.

If it is a blued varmint it could be a model 12fv, although they are usually 26" long. It could also be an older model 110 barrel that was threaded for sights, but was usually 26" long also.

In any event I'm pretty sure it should be a 10 twist.
Hope this helps.

From end to end its 20" Shiny blue, light contour. I'm more than likely off with my guess, I was thinking that perhaps its a Scout barrel? I've tried doing internet research to find what it is with no results. I tried it on my 16FLSS just for the heck of it, shot about one inch with Federals Powershok 150's.

is this not a factory barrel, as most factory barrels are stamped w/ a model number, it could be from a stevens too.
