Been reading (which usually spells trouble...) a lot on the Hodgdon Superformance powder and hearing that it works well for some in their 6.5 CM's. What is non-existent though is data for the same powder in .260. With case capacity being very similar am I crazy for thinking that this might be something worth trying out, and even bigger question is has anyone used this in a .260 that can pass along some reliable load data? I'm thinking that as a basis I could use the low-end of the available data for the 6.5CM and slowly increase from there?

Starting low and working up is always good practice. I dont see why the superformance shouldn't work. Keep us posted on what you find.

i have a buddy that was playing with SP and ended back up at the 4350 line of powders...he is having good results with AA4350...ive tried a lot of different powders in the 260 and here is a list of powders ive had good results with...

RL-17
RL-22
IMR7828ssc
H4831sc
H4350
IMR4350
H100V
norma MRP
H1000

H1000 was a little slow but very accurate...the RL-17 RL-22 norma MRP and IMR7828ssc gave me the fastest FPS loads...H4831sc is accurate but wasnt fast enough for my liking. ive also had my best groups and lowest extreme spreads with CCI primers.

I've got 50 rounds loaded right now of IMR4350 set to do a ladder test of 5 rounds each from starting load up to max load in .5gr increments topped with 129gr Accubond LR's... But I have a buddy here who is wanting to trade a bottle of the SP for a bottle of 4007SSC I have from when I used to reload for 5.56. Was really wondering if anyone else had used it and seen success with it.

From what LongRange and everyone else has told me the 4350 family seems to be the go-to for a lot of guys in .260. It just seems really odd that they offer a lot of reloading data for the 6.5 creed with the SP but nothing on the .260 from what I can find. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but maybe they are afraid it would detract from sales of the 6.5CM?

1. IMR 4350 is the best powder in my 260Rem

2. Forget about the Superformance ... JMHO :-(

3. Hold on to that 4007 SSC. It's good stuff and they don't make it anymore

Again ... JMHO ... Jim

this is exactly why you dont see any data for SP in the 260....personally i think the SP will work in the 260 and would be worth trying(and dont over look the RL-17 im getting my best velocities and extreme spreads with RL-17)ALL the powders i listed work VERY well in the 260.

Yeah, the 4007SSC is good, however with just a pound of it left and the fact I don't load 5.56 anymore... figured I'd go ahead and make room for another jug in my extremely limited space. Who knows, maybe I'll hang on to it until there is no more except my bottle and trade it for something really good!
